15 Chilean and Swedish universities participate in the initiative, where their students will be able to access four areas of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Good Health and Well-Being, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Life below Water and Life on Land.
In 2016, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Chile, Lund University and Uppsala University created the ACCESS platform to facilitate and deepen academic relations between Sweden and Chile, as well as to allow researchers, professionals, administrative staff and students to connect and collaborate in diverse fields. The Academic Collaboration Chile Sweden (ACCESS) platform, introduced a new joint program which is focused on four SDG areas: Good Health and Well-Being, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Life below Water and Life on Land. The main requirement to access these courses is that they must be carried out jointly by at least one Chilean and one Swedish university, aiming at doctoral students to expand their knowledge in the field of sustainability, international collaboration and the development of a Chilean and Swedish doctoral students network. Applications are open until September 25, 2021.
“We believe that, to overcome the challenges presented by the SDGs, combining points of views from different countries and disciplines –such as the arts, sciences, and humanities– can lead to a better understanding of complex global problems and achieve better solutions.” said the UC Chile Vice President for Research, Pedro Bouchon.
