About the center

This center is dedicated to studying the physical, biogeochemical and open- sea ecological processes and also to exploring the abyssal and deep ocean. This includes pelagic ecosystems associated with seamounts, oceanic islands and the Atacama Trench. Among the objectives of IMO is to apply new technologies and platforms for observation and experimental work at sea, and reach unexplored areas of the South Pacific.
